1. Managing your account and subscription
1.1 Can I try nkoda for free?
Of course! You’ll need to set up an account to access your free trial - during your trial, you’ll have complete and unlimited access to all content and features on nkoda.
You will need to subscribe to our monthly or annual subscription (don’t worry, you won’t be charged until the trial is over). Once your free trial is finished, you will automatically be billed either monthly or annually - depending on your selection - unless you cancel your subscription before your trial comes to an end.
If you want to search our content and library without subscribing, you can still do this through the app or on the homepage of our website.
Please note: if you purchased nkoda through an app store, you will be billed by them to the account that you used to purchase your subscription.
1.2 If I cancel my subscription before the free trial is over, and then wish to reactivate my account at a later date, will I be able to continue the trial?
Unfortunately not. Your free trial starts from the moment you sign up.
1.3 Can I sign up with Facebook or Google?
Yes, you can! You can sign up through Facebook or Google by selecting the relevant option on the registration page, you can also sign up using your email address.
1.4 What are the requirements for creating a password?
Your password should include the following:
- At least six letters
- At least one upper-case letter
- At least one lower-case letter
- At least one number
1.5 What can I see before I sign up?
You can search the entire nkoda catalogue for available materials, however, when you try to enter a score, you’ll be prompted to subscribe or start your free trial.
You can also personalise your Discover page based on the instruments you play, and curate your own playlists - you just won’t be able to view the music itself!
1.6 What if my instrument isn’t available?
We’ve covered as many instruments as we can. As we continue to grow, we’ll be adding more parts and titles for more instruments. If you can’t find your instrument, please let us know at email@example.com
1.7 Can I re-access my account if I’ve cancelled my subscription? What happens to my library and markings?
Yes, you can! To re-access your account you can log in on the app. To look at scores you will need to subscribe again. Your data will be stored for seven years, so if you decide to come back, all your markings and playlists will still be available.
1.8 How do I cancel my subscription?
We’re sorry to see you go but you can of course cancel!
Once you have stopped paying for your subscription, you will continue to have access to our content and features until the end of your current billing period. You can purchase a new subscription at any time should you want to restore access to the full nkoda catalogue and your markings.
You can cancel your subscription through the settings on your device, or through the app store from which you subscribed to nkoda. Instructions can be found below:
For Apple devices: click here
For Android devices: click here
For Windows 10 devices: click here
If you subscribed to nkoda directly online, or through one of our discount pages, please click here to cancel your subscription.
Please note: All subscriptions purchased through the above platforms are solely handled by those app stores – their security policy prevents us from being able to cancel or refund any charges on our members' behalf.
1.9 How do I change my email address?
If you want to change the email address associated with your account, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
1.10 How do I change my password?
When logging in, select ‘Forgot password’ and follow the prompts. You’ll be sent an email with a link to change your password.
1.11 Why has my account been disabled?
If your account has been disabled then it’s likely due to one of the following reasons:
- Most often this happens automatically if you’ve taken screenshots - we do this to protect the content of our composers and publishers.
- If we’ve detected any possible fraudulent activity on your account (such as multiple failed attempts to log in) - we do this to protect you.
- If we suspect there has been a violation of our End User Licence Agreement
If you feel there's been some confusion or you innocently took a screenshot/screen-grab, you can get in touch with us email@example.com.
2. Payment help
2.1 What payment methods do you accept?
All payments are made through the app stores (Apple App Store, Mac App Store, Google Play, and Microsoft Store) and are specific to your country's app store payment options.
2.2 How much does nkoda cost?
Not much! Please refer to the pricing page here.
2.3 Can I get my money back if I cancel the subscription?
No, sorry - but you can cancel your subscription at any time. Once you’ve cancelled your subscription you will have complete access to nkoda’s features up until the end of your billing period.
2.4 Do you offer student discounts?
We don’t offer student discounts, although we do offer institutional discounts! If you speak to your school, college, university or ensemble, we can offer you a discount through them.
3. Data and security
3.1 Will my data be stored if I cancel my subscription?
Yes, it will. When you cancel your subscription, your data will be stored for seven years and your annotations will stay forever - just in case you want to come back and access all your saved music and annotations.
3.2 How do I delete my account?
Deleting your account is different to cancelling your subscription. To avoid being automatically charged you must cancel your subscription via your app store (see above ‘Can I cancel my subscription?’) before the next billing cycle and before deleting your account.
If you would like to delete your account, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please note: we may not be able to fully to delete your account as we have commitments to process data to comply with legal obligation and for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims. These retention requirements supersede any right to erasure requests under applicable data protection laws (such as GDPR). We cannot therefore erase your data in relation to your account until after seven years, however we can assure you though that your data will be held safely and securely whilst under our supervision.
