Wojciech Kilar (17 July 1932 – 29 December 2013) was a renowned Polish composer for classical and film music. He garnered significant acclaim for his score to Francis Ford Coppola's 'Bram Stoker's Dracula', earning an ASCAP Award and a Saturn Award nomination. He also received the César Award for 'The Pianist's score in 2003, along with a BAFTA nomination. Born in Lwów and having spent most of his life in Katowice, Kilar was instrumental in the Polish Avant-garde music movement. His scores for over 100 Polish films and dedication to classical music compositions cemented his legacy in music history.
