Vinko Globokar is a French-Slovenian avant-garde composer and trombonist, known for his use of unconventional and extended techniques, as well as improvisation. His work, largely unknown outside experimental music circles, has premiered compositions by esteemed composers and his own works. Born in Anderny, France, and moved to Yugoslavia in 1947, Globokar has been influential in both the European classical and experimental music scenes. His achievements include teaching at the Musikhochschule in Cologne and directing at IRCAM. He won the Prešeren Award in 2002 for lifetime achievement.
