More about Ture Rangström
Anders Johan Ture Rangström (30 November 1884 – 11 May 1947), known as Ture Rangström, was a Swedish composer, music critic, and conductor. He was part of the movement that introduced modernism to Swedish music in the early 20th century. Rangström's initial works were primarily songs, inspired by his music teacher's advice to make his harmonies 'wilder'. His studies in Berlin and Munich refined his compositional technique. As a noted figure in Swedish music, he taught singing and served as the principal conductor of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. He also founded the Swedish Society of Composers and worked at the Royal Swedish Opera. Rangström's works include symphonic poems, symphonies, operas, and numerous songs.
