More about Thomas Morley
Thomas Morley was an English composer, theorist, singer, and organist of the Renaissance period. He is one of the foremost figures of the English Madrigal School. Morley was born in Norwich and was a pupil of William Byrd. He became organist at St Paul's Cathedral, London, and later a Gentleman of the Chapel Royal. Morley was granted a monopoly on music printing in England, significantly influencing the publication of music in the late 16th century. He died in early October 1602 and was buried at the church of St Botolph Billingsgate in London.
