Steven Mackey

Steven 'Steve' Mackey is an American composer, guitarist, and music educator born on February 14, 1956. His compositions are notably influenced by rock and jazz in an avant-garde vein, emphasizing the electric guitar. A recipient of a Guggenheim fellowship and numerous other awards, Mackey often performs his own work and has collaborated with prestigious ensembles. A respected educator, Mackey has been teaching at Princeton University since 1985, and his music is published by Boosey & Hawkes.
