More about Samuel Scheidt
Samuel Scheidt, baptised on 3 November 1587, was a notable German composer, organist, and teacher of the early Baroque era. After studying in Halle, he travelled to Amsterdam to study under Sweelinck. Scheidt became the court organist and later Kapellmeister in Halle. Despite the turmoil of the Thirty Years' War, he stayed in Germany, where he continued to compose and teach, contributing significantly to the organ repertoire and sacred vocal music of the period. He passed away on 24 March 1654.
