Roman Vlad was a Romanian-born Italian composer, pianist, and musicologist noted for his eclectic works, ranging from symphonies to film scores. Born on 29 December 1919 in Cernăuți, he moved to Rome in 1938, became an Italian citizen in 1951, and forged a distinguished career, winning the Enescu Prize and Silver Ribbon Award. His compositions included film scores for 'La Beauté du diable' and 'The Horrible Dr. Hichcock'. Vlad authored 'The History of Twelve-Tone Music' and biographies of notable composers. He passed away on 21 September 2013 in Rome.
