Rolf Martinsson, born on 1 May 1956 in Glimåkra, Skåne, is a renowned Swedish composer. He studied composition at Malmö Academy of Music, Lund University, learning from influential teachers such as Brian Ferneyhough and Sven-David Sandström. A founder of the Association of Young Composers in Malmö, and a member of the Association of Swedish Composers, Martinsson has been a pivotal figure in Scandinavian music. Since 2002, he has also served as the artistic director for new music at the Malmö Symphony Orchestra. His compositions span a variety of genres, including orchestral and choral works, solo concertos, chamber music, and pieces for radio theatre.
