Robert Zuidam (born in Gouda, The Netherlands, on September 23, 1964) is a contemporary Dutch composer. Zuidam studied composition at the Rotterdam Conservatory with Philippe Boesmans and Klaas de Vries from 1984 to 1989. He then became a Composition Fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center in the United States in 1989, where he was under the tutelage of Lukas Foss and Oliver Knussen. Zuidam has been the recipient of the Koussevitzky Composition Prize in 1989 and also received a Leonard Bernstein Scholarship. Best known for his vocal works, Zuidam has written operas such as 'Rage d'amours' and 'Suster Bertken', and his compositions have been performed by various prestigious ensembles and orchestras.
