Richard Jupp was a drummer and percussionist for the British alternative rock band Elbow from its formation in 1997 until 2016. The band, known for its alternative rock, indie rock, and post-Britpop sound, was formed when Guy Garvey met guitarist Mark Potter in 1990 at Stand College in Whitefield, Greater Manchester. Elbow experienced several name changes before settling on their current name in 1997. They won critical acclaim with their debut album 'Asleep in the Back' in 2001 and have since released several successful albums, garnering nominations and awards such as the Mercury Music Prize and the Brit Award for Best British Group.
