Richard Paul Ashcroft, born on 11 September 1971, is an English musician, singer, and songwriter. He rose to fame as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for the alternative rock band The Verve, formed in 1990. Ashcroft penned hits like 'Bitter Sweet Symphony' and 'The Drugs Don't Work,' leading to a successful solo career with top-charting albums. After The Verve's split in 1999 and subsequent reformation and disbandment, Ashcroft founded RPA & The United Nations of Sound and continued releasing acclaimed solo work, including 'Acoustic Hymns Vol. 1' in 2021.
