Rachel Mary Berkeley Portman, born on 11 December 1960, is a groundbreaking British composer renowned for her work in film, television, and theatre. Winning an Academy Award for Best Original Score with 'Emma' in 1996, she holds the distinction of being the first female composer to earn this accolade. Her work includes the celebrated scores for 'The Cider House Rules' and 'Chocolat.'
