More about Philippe Manoury
Philippe Manoury, a renowned French composer born on June 19, 1952, in Tulle, France, stands out for his contributions to computer-assisted composition. Educated at the Conservatoire de Paris and influenced by prominent figures like Pierre Boulez, his work reflects a blend of serial techniques and spatial sound patterns. Manoury's collaborations with computer researcher Miller Puckette at IRCAM and UCSD led to pioneering works in real-time audio signal processing. Notably, he composed 'Pluton', the first piece using Puckette's software Max. After a distinguished career in teaching and composition, he has retired to Strasbourg.
