Peter Turner, born as Peter James Turner, is a British musician and songwriter, known as the bassist for the rock band Elbow. Turner grew up in Bury, Manchester, as an adopted child of white British parents. Inspired by artists like Adam and the Ants, Duran Duran, and Public Enemy, he formed a band that would later be known as Elbow. Turner joined Bury College where he befriended future Elbow frontman Guy Garvey. The group underwent several name changes before settling on Elbow in 1997. In the 2000s, Turner moved to Manchester's city centre and then to Chorlton in 2008.
