Peter Ruzicka, born on 3 July 1948 in Düsseldorf, is a prolific German composer and conductor, known for his contributions to classical music. He served as the director of the Hamburg State Opera, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Hamburg, and the Salzburg Festival. Ruzicka also held the position of managing director and Intendant at the Salzburg Easter Festival. Throughout his career, he has composed a variety of orchestral and chamber music, including notable operas such as 'Celan', 'Hölderlin', and 'Benjamin'. Additionally, he has been a professor at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg since 1990.
