Michael Fitzhardinge Berkeley, Baron Berkeley of Knighton, CBE, born 29 May 1948, is an esteemed English composer and broadcaster. The eldest son of composer Sir Lennox Berkeley, he was a chorister at Westminster Cathedral and studied at the Royal Academy of Music. His achievements include the Guinness Prize for Composition, roles as associate composer for both the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and BBC National Orchestra of Wales, and visiting professorships. He has contributed significantly to chamber and choral music and has been a notable radio broadcaster for BBC Radio 3's 'Private Passions.' In 2013, he entered the House of Lords as a life peer.
