Johann Baptist Joseph Maximilian Reger was a German composer, conductor, and academic teacher. Born in Brand, Bavaria, he initially composed for piano and organ, and later turned to orchestral compositions. Reger's work includes the Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Mozart and choral works such as Der 100. Psalm. He worked at Leipzig University and served as a music director in Saxe-Meiningen. Reger died in Leipzig in 1916.
