Matthew James Aitken, born on 25 August 1956 in Astley, Greater Manchester, is an English songwriter and record producer. He is renowned as a part of the songwriting/production trio Stock Aitken Waterman during the 1980s/early 1990s. After a split in 1991, Aitken briefly retired, focusing on raising his daughters and personal hobbies. He returned to the music scene in 1994 collaborating with Mike Stock and achieved success with various acts. He appears to have retired again in 2002.
