More about Luciano Chailly
Luciano Chailly was an Italian composer and arts administrator, who thrived in post-war Italy, uniting tonal, polytonal, and twelve-tone techniques. Born and raised under the influence of fascism, Chailly remained detached from politics, embracing humanism instead. His experiences in the Second World War shaped his compositions, which often expressed his strong disapproval of conflict. Notably, Chailly was acclaimed for his operas, frequently working with librettist Dino Buzzati. Also recognized as a dedicated family man, he was the father of conductor Riccardo Chailly, harpist and composer Cecilia Chailly, and journalist and film director Floriana Chailly.
