More about Louis Andriessen
Louis Joseph Andriessen (6 June 1939 – 1 July 2021) was a Dutch composer, pianist, and academic teacher. Born into a musical family in Utrecht, he was a pivotal figure in The Hague school of composition. His music, first marked by neoclassicism and serialism, evolved to incorporate American minimalism, jazz, and Stravinski's style. Studying under his father Hendrik Andriessen, Kees van Baaren, and Luciano Berio, he later taught at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, shaping future composers from 1974 to 2012.
