Lamont Herbert Dozier was an American singer, songwriter, and record producer, notable as a key figure in the Motown sound. Part of the songwriting and production team Holland–Dozier–Holland, he contributed to numerous hits for artists like Martha and the Vandellas, The Supremes, and The Four Tops. Founder of Invictus Records and Hot Wax Records, Dozier also had a successful career as a recording artist with notable hits such as 'Why Can't We Be Lovers' and 'Trying to Hold onto My Woman'. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.
