More about Judy Garland
Judy Garland, born Frances Ethel Gumm on June 10, 1922, was a prominent American actress and singer. She achieved stardom for her work in musical and dramatic roles, as well as a recording artist and stage performer. She was honored with an Academy Juvenile Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Special Tony Award. Her versatility shone as the first woman to win the Grammy Award for Album of the Year for 'Judy at Carnegie Hall' in 1961. Her film career included iconic roles in 'The Wizard of Oz' and 'A Star Is Born.' Struggling with the pressures of fame from a young age, Garland faced substance use issues and financial difficulties, culminating in her tragic death from an accidental barbiturate overdose on June 22, 1969, at the age of 47.
