More about Joseph Jongen
Marie Alphonse Nicolas Joseph Jongen was a Belgian organist, composer, and music educator. Exceptionally talented, Jongen was admitted to the Liège Conservatoire at just seven. He won multiple awards, including the Belgian Prix de Rome in 1897. Jongen composed symphonies, concertos, chamber music, and songs, and his oeuvre includes monumental works such as the Symphonie Concertante for organ and orchestra. During WWI, he resided in England, returning to Belgium later to serve as director of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
