More about José de Azpiazu
José de Azpiazu, born in 1912 in Oñati (Gipuzkoa), was a prominent guitarist, teacher, composer, and transcriber. Adept in music from an early age, he was influenced by his uncle, Angel Iriarte. Azpiazu's career flourished after he moved to Geneva in 1950, where he worked as a professor at Geneva and Lausanne conservatories. Renowned for his concert tours, he was particularly noted for presenting Bach's works for lute and discovering a Vivaldi concerto. His contributions include publishing numerous guitar scores, transcribing famous works, recovering lost pieces, and creating unedited compositions.
