John Winston Ono Lennon was an English singer, songwriter, and musician who gained worldwide fame as the founder of the Beatles. His songwriting partnership with Paul McCartney remains the most successful in history. Born in Liverpool, Lennon's music evolved from pop-oriented hit songs to innovative compositions reflecting his political activism. He expanded his artistic expression to include writing and film. After the Beatles, he continued his activism with Yoko Ono, with songs like 'Imagine' becoming anthems for peace. Lennon returned to music with 'Double Fantasy' in 1980 but was tragically murdered by a fan in New York City that same year.
