Johann Christian Bach (1735-1782), the eighteenth child of Johann Sebastian Bach, was a seminal German composer of the Classical era. Born in Leipzig, he later moved to London and became known as 'The London Bach.' His work significantly influenced the concerto styles of Haydn and Mozart and was pivotal in the development of the sonata principle. He spent his early career in Italy, studying music and converting to Catholicism, and in London, he earned fame as a performer and teacher, including to the young Mozart.
