More about Jean-Yves Daniel-Lesur
Daniel Jean-Yves Lesur (19 November 1908 – 2 July 2002) was a French organist and composer. Born in Paris, he was a prodigious student at the Conservatoire de Paris, and later, a professor of counterpoint at the Schola Cantorum. A co-founder of La Jeune France, Lesur sought to promote a more humanized compositional style. He collaborated with and remained a close friend of Olivier Messiaen. Lesur's significant contributions include his role as the director of the Opéra National de Paris. His operatic and choral works attracted considerable acclaim, notably the Prix Samuel Rousseau and membership in the Institut de France. He passed away in Paris.
