Jason Sellards, known professionally as Jake Shears, is an American musician and the co-lead vocalist of the pop-rock band Scissor Sisters. Born on October 3, 1978, in Mesa, Arizona, Shears moved to New York and formed Scissor Sisters in 2001. The band found success in the UK, with their album becoming the biggest-selling album of the year in 2004. Shears also has a solo career, releasing his debut solo album in 2018 and pursuing collaborations with other artists.
