Sir Charles Hubert Hastings Parry, 1st Baronet, was an English composer, teacher, and historian of music. His first major works appeared in 1880, and he is best known for 'Jerusalem', 'I was glad', 'Blest Pair of Sirens', and the hymn 'Repton'. He served as professor at the Royal College of Music and Oxford's Heather Professor of Music. Parry's role in developing later British composers is recognised, with students like Vaughan Williams and Holst. He was a member of the Royal Yacht Squadron【31†source】.
