More about Howard Chandler Robbins Landon
Howard Chandler Robbins Landon (March 6, 1926 – November 20, 2009) was an American musicologist, journalist, historian, and broadcaster, renowned for rediscovering much of Haydn's music and correcting misconceptions about Mozart. The son of a musician, Landon was inspired by Haydn's symphonies in high school, leading to a career in Haydn scholarship. He co-founded the Haydn Society in 1949, aiming to publish Haydn's works and record them. Landon's significant contributions to music include critical editions of Haydn's operas and a five-volume study on Haydn's works. He also authored popular books on Mozart, contributing significantly to the understanding of both composers' lives and music.
