Per Gunnar Fredrik de Frumerie was a Swedish composer and pianist born on 20 July 1908 in Nacka, Stockholm County. The son of Gustaf de Frumerie and Maria Helleday, he studied piano in Stockholm and Vienna before training under Alfred Cortot in Paris. He attended the Royal College of Music, Stockholm from 1923 to 1928, later becoming a piano teacher there from 1945 to 1974. Known for his piano works which feature a Brahmsian complexity with an impressionistic touch, Frumerie's compositions ranged from opera to piano pieces. His notable works include the opera 'Singoalla' and a cello concerto adapted into a trombone concerto. Frumerie passed away on 9 September 1987 in Täby, Stockholm County.
