Gordon Jacob

Gordon Percival Septimus Jacob CBE was an influential English composer and teacher, a professor at the Royal College of Music in London. Educated at Dulwich College, he served in WWI and later embraced a career in music, studying at the Royal College of Music. His notable teachers included Stanford and Vaughan Williams. Jacob's vast output exceeded 700 works, and he also made significant contributions through orchestrations and arrangements. He taught many distinguished students, wrote extensively on music theory, and continued composing throughout his life.
