Georg Friedrich Haas

Georg Friedrich Haas, born on 16 August 1953 in Graz, Austria, is an influential Austrian composer known for his spectral music style. Haas's work garnered significant attention when his composition 'in vain' (2000) topped the 2017 Classic Voice poll for the greatest works of art music since 2000. Educated in Graz, he has been affiliated with educational institutions, teaching subjects like contemporary composition techniques and microtonal music. Since 2013, he serves as a professor of composition at Columbia University, New York.
