More about Géza Frid
Géza Frid was a Hungarian-Dutch composer and pianist, born in Máramarossziget, Austria-Hungary, now Romania. He studied in Budapest with Zoltán Kodály and Béla Bartók, moved to Amsterdam in 1929, and became a Dutch citizen in 1948. A pianist of international repute, Frid performed worldwide and was active in the resistance during WWII. He taught at Utrecht Conservatory and authored books on musical figures and memoirs. Awarded multiple prizes, including the City of Amsterdam Music Prize, Frid's work continues to be celebrated posthumously.
