Franz Xaver Gruber

Franz Xaver Gruber was an Austrian primary school teacher, church organist, and composer known for composing the music to 'Stille Nacht' ('Silent Night'). Born in the village of Hochburg-Ach, Upper Austria, Gruber developed his musical talents under the guidance of the Hochburger schoolteacher Andreas Peterlechner and Georg Hartdobler.
