More about Eric Fischer
Eric Fischer has composed more than 200 works, which range from pieces for solo instrument to symphonic form by way of every type of instrumental forces and the most diverse experiences, including chamber music, electronics, vocal works, incidental music for the theatre, improvised music, and pieces for period instruments. His openness to encounters of all kinds has led to other highly unusual artistic exchanges. Among the most notable since 1989 have been: - a mutually fruitful relationship with the Japanese choreographer Shiro Damon. - the founding along with the Swiss visual artist Bernard Garo and the actor François Chattot of the ‘Collectif de la dernière tangente’, which offers astonishing pluridisciplinary immersions. - the music for Johanna Vaude’s film L’œil sauvage (2006). - regular collaborations with poets including Dominique Brand and Emmanuel Damon. - compositions for such artists as Richard Galliano, David Liebman, François Bou, Jacqueline Méfano, Marianne Muller, the Riga Quartet, the Ensemble FA 7, Jean-Pierre Baraglioli, the Boréal Quartet, the rock collective Adélaïde, the Latvian Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, and Sylvain Kassap. As a saxophonist and keyboard player he has appeared in concert and/or recorded with the likes of Steve Lacy, David Liebman, Sylvain Kassap, Hozan Yamamoto, Andy Emler, Marc Ducret, Archie Shepp, and François Rossé. He is the editor of the MAIA series (Musique d’Aujourd’hui sur Instruments Anciens: contemporary music for early instruments) for the publisher François Dhalmann.
