More about Edmund Rubbra
Edmund Rubbra was a British composer recognized for his instrumental and vocal works, chamber music, and symphonic compositions. Esteemed by fellow musicians, he remained influential in the mid-20th century and is best known for his eleven symphonies. Unlike many contemporaries, he eschewed the twelve-tone system in favor of a distinctive personal style. Sadly, his later works did not maintain their initial popularity. Rubbra also nurtured an appreciation for eastern philosophies, which influenced his music. His talent for music manifested in childhood, and throughout his life, he remained a respected figure in the musical community【31†source】.
