Giuseppe Domenico Scarlatti, known as Domingo or Doménico Scarlatti, was an Italian Baroque composer influential in the development of the Classical style. Born in Naples, he spent much of his life serving the Portuguese and Spanish royal families, renowned for his 555 keyboard sonatas. Scarlatti studied music initially under his composer father, Alessandro Scarlatti. His life was dedicated to music, fulfilling roles from the Chapel Royal of Naples organist to Maestro di Cappella at St. Peter's, Rome. Residing in Spain for his final 25 years, he also taught and composed prolifically, leaving a lasting legacy on classical music.
