More about Detlev Glanert
Detlev Glanert, born on 6 September 1960 in Hamburg, Germany, is a contemporary opera composer. He began his music education with the trumpet at 11 and started formal composition studies in his twenties. Under the mentorship of Hans Werner Henze, Glanert's opera 'Leyla und Medjun' opened the first Munich Biennale. His award-winning opera 'Der Spiegel des großen Kaisers' and his staging of 'Caligula' have garnered international attention. Glanert emphasizes audience connection and often explores the darker aspects of human nature in his works.
