More about Daniel McNamara
Daniel Laurence McNamara (28 March 1876 – 28 December 1947) was an Australian politician born at Pomborneit. He worked as a produce agent, joined the Australian Workers' Union in 1907, and helped establish the Rural Workers Union in 1909. McNamara was a member of the Labor Party state executive from 1909 until his death. He married Florence May Spinks in 1915, with whom he had three children. He was key in merging unions and served on the Berwick Shire Council. McNamara was elected to the Victorian Legislative Council in 1917 and held various ministerial roles. He died in East St Kilda in 1947.
