Cy Coleman, born Seymour Kaufman on June 14, 1929, was an American composer, songwriter, and jazz pianist, known for his contributions to the Broadway stage. A prodigious talent from a young age, he performed at New York's prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, during childhood. Transitioning from a successful jazz musician to a celebrated composer for musical theater, Coleman's Broadway career flourished with collaborations yielding hits such as 'Witchcraft' and 'The Best Is Yet to Come.' His shows, including 'Sweet Charity' and 'City of Angels,' won multiple Tony Awards, and his songwriting was recognized with Grammy and Emmy Awards. Cy Coleman passed away on November 18, 2004.
