Brian Jeffery

Brian Jeffery specialized in Renaissance literature and musicology, focusing on textual analysis of early sources and modern editions. He earned a First in Modern Languages at Christ Church, Oxford, and a Ph.D. from St. Andrews. He taught at several universities, including UC Berkeley and UC Santa Barbara. In 1997, he held the Curtis Mayes Orpheus Chair in Musicology at Florida State University. Jeffery directed Tecla Editions, published numerous scholarly works, and held a strong influence in guitar music with pioneering editions of composers like Giuliani and Sor.
