Brett Dean

Brett Dean, born on 23 October 1961 in Brisbane, is an acclaimed Australian composer, violist, and conductor. Educated at Brisbane State High School, he began his music career as a violinist, transitioning to viola, and graduated from the Queensland Conservatorium. Dean was a member of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra before focusing on composing and teaching. His works include orchestral pieces, chamber music, and opera, with notable compositions like 'Carlo,' 'Polysomnography,' and 'The Lost Art of Letter Writing.'
