Henry Robert Merrill Levan, known as Bob Merrill, was an influential American songwriter, theatrical composer, lyricist, and screenwriter. Renowned for his contributions to American popular music in the 1950s, he created hits like "(How Much Is) That Doggie in the Window?" and "Mambo Italiano" without playing an instrument, using just a toy xylophone. Merrill's talents extended to Broadway, where he crafted shows like Carnival! and penned the lyrics for the iconic Funny Girl.
