Billie Joe Armstrong

Billie Joe Armstrong was born on February 17, 1972, in Oakland, California. He is best known as the lead vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter for the rock band Green Day, which he co-founded in 1987. He has also played in Pinhead Gunpowder and side projects including Foxboro Hot Tubs and the Network. Armstrong's career began early, recording his first song at five years old. After his father passed when he was ten, music became his refuge, leading him to the creation of Green Day with childhood friend Mike Dirnt. His contributions to punk rock have earned him critical recognition as one of the genre's top guitarists.
