More about Alexandre Tansman
Alexandre Tansman was a Polish-born composer, pianist, and conductor who became a naturalized French citizen in 1938. Celebrated for his neoclassical compositions and associations with École de Paris, Tansman gained global recognition. Born in Łódź, Poland to Lithuanian Jewish parents, Tansman was raised by his mother after his father's early death. His Francophile upbringing led him to pursue his musical career in Paris, influenced by icons such as Maurice Ravel and Igor Stravinsky. Tansman declined to join Les Six, valuing his creative independence, yet became a notable name amongst neoclassical and École de Paris composers.
