Alan Peijei Chang was born on December 4, 1979, in San Jose, California. He is an American pianist and songwriter, widely recognized for his collaborations with Michael Bublé. Chang pursued a degree in jazz studies at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music, graduating in 2002. He discovered his love for jazz in middle school and by high school, was locally acknowledged for his talent, recording an independent album. His professional journey advanced significantly after becoming Bublé's musical director and pianist in 2003. Chang co-wrote the hits 'Home', 'Everything', and 'Lost' with Bublé. He produced and co-wrote songs for several albums and also worked with other artists like Josh Kelley and Javier Colon.
