More about La Campanella
In 1851, Franz Liszt composed six piano etudes based on the music of the virtuoso violinist Niccolò Paganini. La campanella - ‘The Little Bell’ - is the third and most notorious of the set. The piece earns its name and reputation courtesy of the repeating bell-like notes that appear in the piano’s upper reaches, and the intervals the player has to quickly cross to reach them. There are even larger intervals for the left hand to play, too. Etudes like La campanella are designed to develop certain technical abilities. As well as boosting your skills in general, learning this piece will help you to focus especially on moving smoothly and accurately between widely spaced notes.
