Amélie, an off-the-wall romantic comedy, unexpectedly took the world by storm when it was released in 2001, and so did its music. Yann Tiersen’s stylish and spirited score has proved enduringly popular, with ‘Comptine d’un autre été: l'après-midi’, a wistful piece for solo piano, being a firm favourite from the soundtrack. This easier arrangement reduces some of the activity in the right hand so that you can focus on the melodic building blocks of the piece.
